As 2011 unfolds there are events being planned all over the world to honor the composer throughout the year. There will be concerts in Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom. In May, the city of Tiomkin’s birth in Ukraine, Kremenchuk, will be celebrating a native son; an international film festival will be bestowing the first annual Dimitri Tiomkin Award to a living film composer; and a concert devoted solely to the works of Tiomkin will take place in London in October.
